The Validation stage is critical and, if used effectively, provides the most significant reduction in the cost of delivering the project. In a migration the final deliverable exists before the project has begun. When used as a leverage, test and validation can be exploited through the entire project.

Sector7 has experience of both manual and automated test procedures and methodologies, and have used various tools of our own and from third parties. Our engineers work closely with the client to ensure that the testing regime is as comprehensive and meaningful as possible. In fact the testing procedures are developed and agreed with the client as part of our Stage Two Assessment, so the project will not even start until all parties have agreed to them, one of the vital factors that allows us to provide fixed-price migration projects.

The objective behind having testing as an integral part of the project is to ensure that success can be easily measured and quantified, and to assist in bringing the project to conclusion; i.e. when the migrated application has fulfilled all of the test criteria, we have done our job and the project is deemed to be successful.

Of major benefit to the client, is that if a comprehensive test suite is not in place before the migration, it will be afterwards. This can be carried forward through continued use and enhancement, to provide added value on the new host.
