( BW)(TX-SECTOR7/IBM) Sector7 and IBM Announce Migration Program for HP3000 Customers; Free Stage One Migration Assessment Offered

Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 2002--Sector7 and IBM today announced a new program to help HP3000 customers move to the IBM eServer iSeries platform, IBM's mainframe-class server.

The companies are offering a free Stage One Assessment to customers who are interested in migrating.

HP announced late last year that it will stop selling the HP3000 in November of 2003 and will eliminate all support for the HP3000 in January of 2007.

"We are finding that the combination of IBM eServers and Sector7's guaranteed migration process is a very attractive combination to HP3000 users," said Jon Power, CEO of Sector7. "With IBM server technology the road ahead is clearly defined with best of breed hardware, next generation system management, and the satisfaction of knowing that IBM is there to support the system and their organizations. Sector7's expertise in pricing/planning and executing migrations means that users can plan not only in terms of cost but also timeframe."

"IBM eServer iSeries server is a natural choice for customers looking to move from the HP3000," said Buell Duncan, general manager, IBM eServer iSeries. "With its ease of management, support for Linux, Java, Windows and ported Unix applications, and ability to run multiple virtual servers on a single system, the eServer iSeries line is a compelling alternative for HP3000 customers."

Sector7 offers a comprehensive migration solution to current HP3000 customers looking to move to IBM eServer iSeries servers immediately. Application rehosting protects a company's intellectual assets and leverages MPE/iX software investments while migrating technology to a non-proprietary environment. Sector7's five-step application migration process, refined over the past 16 years through many successful projects with IBM, provides HP3000 MPE users an accurate, cost-effective and low risk application migration service.

In a first-phase migration assessment, the entire environment, such as language, databases, user interfaces, communications and third party software, is reviewed for porting to the desired platform. This assessment will help determine the magnitude, price and duration of the project.

In addition to free initial assessment, IBM offers rebates to customers that replace two or more qualifying AS/400 or non-IBM servers with an eligible IBM eServer iSeries model. IBM's low rate financing allows customers to acquire iSeries systems and model upgrades at very attractive rates as low as 5.2%.
