SECTOR7, TRANSFORMIX TO OFFER MPE MIGRATIONS
HP to Discontinue the HP 3000
Austin, Texas, November 14, 2001 - Sector7 and Transformix announced that the companies would partner to offer full migration services to users of the HP 3000 MPE platform, amid rumors that HP will discontinue the HP 3000.
This is a part of Sector7’s standard legacy application migration offerings, a five-step process that has been refined over the past 16 years through many successful projects. Sector7 will provide project management and migration expertise, while Transformix will supply the necessary tools for these migrations.
“We know that the Compaq/HP merger will mean the consolidation of offerings from both companies,” said Jon Power, CEO of Sector7. “We are extremely excited to add MPE to our growing list of legacy platform migration capabilities, and are prepared to provide cost effective and immediate source-code level migration tools and services to organizations in every industry and of any size.”
While MPE user interface enhancements or language specific porting tools exist, these are only part of the solution. Users are still required to either make substantial changes to their application or to rewrite significant portions of it.
"The ideal migration team for such a project consists of MPE specialists, Open Systems specialists and the 'right' set of tools, which we have brought together here,” said Charles Finley of Transformix. "Transformix offers a multi-language, comprehensive solution that consists of both migration tools for code and data migration, run-time emulation tools and operating system utilities that emulate MPE utilities. Sector7 provides critical services such as project management, migration and conversion that is scalable to meet any conceivable migration project.”
Current HP 3000 users will be enabled to migrate and run their mixed language HP 3000 MPE applications on UNIX and soon Windows, and can choose from leading standards-based platforms, RDBMSs and front-end development tools.
